Question:

I am looking for a TV service without a monthly plan?

It bothers me to pay $40/month for TV and I will do anything to get out of paying for a service, even if I have to watch TV on the computer. Any suggestions?

  1. There are 3 types of signal: cable, satellite, and over-the-air (antenna). Only the last is "free," if you are close enough to the transmitter to receive the signal. Use the OTA or pay, like the rest of us do. You might as well get used to it, there is no free lunch. The ads for "free" internet TV are a scam.

  2. If you have a digital television with a built in cable receiver, try running the cable directly into your TV. Many times, the cable company will not bother capping your feed because you need a box to convert it anyway. However, many TV's have a built in cable converter which will display all the channels for free.

  3. In the UK you can get what are called Freeview boxes, they pick up an extra 30 or so channels for free over the air.

I dont know if they have any thing like that in the US but if you do it is likely to be your best option.
