  1. Camaro or Firebird, LT1 or LS1 if you want to go real fast. ;)

  2. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://carquotes.sinfree.net

First time drivers usually have much higher rates than others. And it depends from car.

  3. Get a Mustang.  They started getting expensive in 1999 because the 5.0 L OHV V8 got swapped for a 4.6 L SOHC V8, which makes more power on less gas.  If I were you, I would get a 89'-94' Mustang with a 5.0 L V8.  Other cheap but fast cars are: older Camaros, Firebirds, Trans-ams, and old Chevy Novas.

  4. I'm in the same situation as you, and I assure you that eclipses are not fast at all. civics really aren't either, because they are 4 clyinders, and lancers are too, unless you get the evo, which will cost you A LOT.  personally, I'm getting a civic because they are cheap and easy to maintain. they are fun to drive, especially the stick shifts, and they have tons of aftermarket parts. I say go with the civic. if you can afford it, get the ex version with the vtec engine, its a little more powerful than the civic lx's engine

  5. Sorry, but cheap and fast don't go together.Haven't you herd the old saying speed cost money just how fast do you want to go. Besides your first car should be dependable and economical not fast. Good luck anyway.

  6. how bout a lancer.cheap and fast as h**l.

  7. Being nice, the last thing you need if it's your first car is a fast car. I know thats not what you want to hear, but the reality is your first car is very likely to get smashed, because it takes some time to learn to drive well, especially if your first priority is to go fast. Thats not what driving is about.

That said, i have an eclipse spyder, they are known for leakage.

  8. A Civic is decently fast plus with a Manual Trans it's really fun to drive.  They're also easily customizable and will run forever if properly cared for.  Also will get much better gas mileage and cost you less in repairs than any Mitsubishi.
