I want to buy a camera that will take pictures quickly. My husband and I are runners and by the time my current camera gets a picture off he is out of shot. I have a Canon Powershot A530. I would like to find something under $400.00 but if it will do what I want I would spend up to $600.00

  1. As you know, P&S cameras have some level of shutter lag and for shooting any sports or action, it can be very frustrating.

The $470 price for a Nikon D40 with 18-55 mm lens is a good one ... you may be able to find it for little less at Costco.  Most stores sell that camera setup for $499.

  2. We have a Kodak Easy Share. It takes great pictures of the kids in action.

$470 at Circuit City, and I'll bet that's high.

  4. I would suggest looking for a used professional SLR Digital Camera. The SLR cameras are so fun to shoot with...you can get different lenses for them...I suggest trying a cheap generic fisheye...It is fun :-)

You can buy an expensive professional SLR Digital Camera that sold for thousands a few years ago for a few hundred bucks today. They still have the same great quality they did when they were thousands of dollars...

My recommendation is a Canon...maybe a d30 or even a d10 is a great camera...also really affordable now...but the choices in accessories is great! Battery grip, flash, filters and lenses...so fun to play with....They are very easy to use...has different modes to help you with your shots...Portrait Mode for Close-ups of people....landscape mode for shooting scenery...action mode for action....It has a nightshot mode for amazing shots....it fires the flash but leaves your shutter open for a few mil-seconds longer to capture the surrounding light...they look beautiful...great for fireworks or Xmas lights...

It is a great way to get a great professional digital camera that takes amazing shots...they are better than the consumer digital cameras. They are also alot more fun to use with different lens choices.....

I purchased 2 cameras from http://photographersadvantage.com and have been very pleased with my new found hobby!

Good luck and happy shooting :-)

  5. Canon PowerShot SD870 is to be the best camera for the money.

If you choose a camera that uses AA rechargeable NiMH batteries, the information at the link below will help you make your camera run better.
