hes only 110 pounds and maybe 5'7''

ive been studying all the 250 4-strokes but cant figure out what bike would be best for a small teen. the best information i have found is that the kx250r has softer suspension, would that be better for his lightweight?

i am about to spend a lot of money on a new bike for him so i would like to know what bike would best fit his size most comfortably. he really wants the crf but im not sure if that will be best for him. people have told me that i should get him what ever bike he likes best because they are all great machines. if anyone has any information that can help me out, please share because i really have no idea.

  1. According to reviews the Suzuki is the best for smaller riders going from an 85cc to a 250f.  The Suzuki feels smaller and has a better spread of power than the other 250f's.

I am not a real Suzuki fan but know the downfalls of having a son who is on the small side.  My 15 year old nearly 16 was only about 5ft 6 and weighed 48 kilo's, when he went onto a 250f and he had a kx250 which we trimmed the seat down on.  This was a good move for him at the time and he now races a crf250r  and handles the bike very well.

So I suggest you look into the Suzuki purely due to your sons size and I also agree that basically any of the 250f's are good bikes for someone who is looking for  their first one.

  2. If it is first ever bike maybe you should consider an 250cc chinese bike to learn on until he no's how to ride properly.

Otherwise if not i personally like the honda's due to there reliability.

Just my opinion and there all great brands.

  3. If he is riding a 105 big bore he will be able to handle any of the 250s....I have alot of friends that made the jump and all seemed to like the Honda best...They said it just feels better...so...I dont think you can go wrong with the honda...

It would be nice if he could take a few laps on some of the bikes to see what feels better to him...Like at a local practice...It alot of money..I know
