Health insurance is not something to mess around with.

So just spend 30 minutes - 1 hour and read all the information on all the plans before you make a decision.

Also you could always try to get insurance through work???

Not all companies write in all states, but the pricing is about the same, for the same coverage - if you're 30 and healthy, expect to pay $300 each for comprehensive coverage, per month.  That's what it costs.  

If you're looking for cheaper, you'll have less coverage, or high deductibles.  

Go visit a local, independent agent, who can help you compare coverages to price and find a product which meets your needs, AND is available in your state.

I am a general agent and write insurance for a number of companies. The most important thing is to search out companies that specialize in writing insurance for certain types of situations. Some will not insure you if you are a smoker, others don't even ask. Some have very strict height/weight tables, some are pretty generous. Just always remember that the entire pricing structure of the insurance profession is based on RISK. The more risk a company is taking to insure your husband, the higher the premium is likely to be. So, for example, if he's a smoker and you go with a company that penalizes smokers with a higher premium, you'll pay through the nose for it. However, if it is a company that insures many smokers, for them he doesn't pose any higher level of risk than any of their other customers. I hope this makes sense.

What is his situation? Is he overweight? does he have any major existing health challenges? Does he smoke? Drink? Does he have any kind of exercise program? etc etc. This is all important information as you search for companies. I don't sell insurance to anyone online, since Florida laws require that you visually observe the client before selling them insurance (and that just makes good sense anyway).
