specialized, trek and giant all have women's specific geometry. I'd send my wife to bike shops with those brands, and have her check them check them out, if she were looking for a new ride. definitely get properly fitted first, then try bikes in your size.

My husband and I have a Suzuki Savage 650.  It is a very light bike and the seat is lower to the ground than a lot of other bikes.  I am 5'1" and my feet can reach the ground easily.  When sitting in the front driver seat I can very easily pick the bike up and straighten it out to get it going.  Hope this helps.
