We are not the sporty kinds and would not want to indulge in skiing or hiking. From a sight seeing perspective only, will Switzerland be a good place. Are people comfortable walking on the streets in the cold?

  1. Yes! I think it would be beautiful. Of course I like in Alaska :-)

  2. You would be Better off going to Germany. Citys like Heidelberg , Baden Baden,Mannheim, Karlsruhe. these cities have a alot of History, and many Sights to see. Switzerland is also very Expensive, since they are not in the European Union.

  3. Never been there but ,from the pictures I've seen, Switzerland would be beautiful any time of year.

  4. Hi there,

you are looking to travel to Switzerland (or even better Northern Europo) during a time of the year were you will most likely hit the worst weather of fall/winter.

There are surely many sights (cities/museums/landscape) you can visit in Switzerland and I must tell you it is a very beatiful country, but you will be seeing them in rain, maybe even the first snow and most time overcasted.

So I'm not sure if it would be the scenerie you would like to see you and your spouse in.

If I had to choose a spot in Europe for a honeymoon in November, I think I rather would pick Paris or Venice (more romantic) or Rome (has lots to do and better weather)

  5. I lived in Switzerland for a while, and I didn't mind November's weather. Though when it rains, it can be cold. We still had some warm spells.

Bern is a nice place to visit, as is Basel. Most of the things you want to see there are within walking distance of the train stations.

From Interlaken (not too exciting as a town from my perspective) you can take the BOB (Bern Oberlander Bahn), funuculars and gondellas up different mountains, such as Schilthorn (where they filmed a James Bond movie).

Last winter I spent a couple days in Chur. It was great! Shopping, though expensive, was diverse, the old town was charming and the mountains around were very scenic.

Lucern, Lausanne, Geneva, Zurich, St. Gallen, Biel are also scenic locations and special in thier own ways.

I give Switzerland two thumbs up! (But then again, I'd live there again if I had the chance.)

  6. I'm afraid Switzerland is not the best place in Nov. It's rainy and cold. The best time to sight see is feb or in spring. It really os a beautiful country I live their and people are actually friendly......
