We have "The GREAT CAKE" which has numbers that you trace with your fingers as you read through the book. It is a great learning tool and we are looking for something similar with letters instead of numbers. Does anyone have a book like this or does anyone know where I can get one?

  1. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault is a great book. It's all about letters joining each other in a coconut tree. It rhymes and has letters that are large enough to trace as you read. I highly recommend this. I'm a teacher in an elementary school and we love to use this book in our PreK-1st grade classes.

  2. make one! If you just want texture - trace with glue or make them out of sandpaper.  Or I like the idea that someone else said of ants and buttons - let your child help you make it - you'll be making more than a book - you'll be making a memory!

  3. I don't know of a book that is published, but I have made these with preschool children.  You could make one with your child.  You could do the following:

Letter A - glue on plastic ants found at your local party store like IParty.

    Letter B -glue on buttons

Letter C - glue on caps from bottles

    etc...

You can then run your finger along the textured letter!
