I want a good red wine that is slightly to moderately sweet. I have tried and do not like dry wines. I don't want the wine that is too sweet as it tends to give me migraines. Can someone give me several ideas to try; not opposed to trying a white wine with the same description.

  1. I prefer dry wines, but I've enjoyed semi-sweet wines from the country of Georgia.

  2. Try some African or Chilean wines. This countries have a very hot climate, grape is very sweet and even dry red wines are not so dry as their European "brothers".

  3. Italian Dolce Rosso Marsemino ,Brazilian Cancao Red,Italian Ruffino Classico Ducale Red,Tomasselo Ranier Red,Banfi 2007 Rosa regale ,Falkner Luscious lips Red Wine  2005.

  4. Good red wine is not suppose to be "sweet", it is suppose to be dry (not sweet). Try annie greenspings or boonesfarms if you want sweet.

  5. umm i suppose you try welch's that is partly sweet and exceptionally delicious!...

  6. You may want to try a Shiraz or Shirah. Yellow Tail makes a reasonably priced wine. I've also had a White Merlot that was pretty good. White Merlot is a little darker than a blush but lighter than a red.

  7. I find that the Spanish Tempernillo's (that's a variety, not a brand name) are very good.  Another we like is Hob Nob (that's the brand), and it's a red wine.  To my knowledge, they only have red and a white, so if you got the red, you'd be good to go.  Both are priced in the $12-$15 range if you buy them at your local wine dealer (or grocery store or liquor store).  If you buy a bottle in a restaurant, I find that they're like $7/glass, which seems VERY expensive, when I can buy the entire bottle at home for less!

    Good luck!

  8. I like Liebfraumilch, it's a semi-sweet white German wine (easily found Schmitt Söhne makes it) and pretty cheap (I think it's about $8 or $9 a bottle). I also like Reisling. Biltmore Estate makes good wine too. I like their Century (about $16). I haven't yet found a red I like yet.
