I second Alwins suggestion. Almost every city and village in Germany has a tourist information ("i") and they are the best place to book cheap accomodation. With small communities it is best to either call or email the "i".

There are many private lodging houses in and around Hermannsburg, but if you aren't fluent in German, a hotel which is familiar with guests from abroad would certainly be the better choice. The prices are not really high in this rural area, now during the winter season. This is what I found for you:

I should mention that it's a nice adventure to be dependant on the public passenger traffic in Hermannsburg and vicinity.

I don't know how many hotels there are there but I bet there aren't many for sale. And even if they were, they are usually quite big and so they're gonna be expensive to buy.

Like with most small communities in Germany, the Hermannsburg website is a nightmare. Call them on the phone for accomodation; the international dialing code for Germany is +49, then dial 5052 for Hermannsburg, and 4-00 to 4-03 to get through to the community authorities.
