A ferry that capsized and partially sank in a typhoon in the Philippines killing more than 800 people is to be refloated in an effort to recover the bodies and ten tonnes of toxic pesticide. (read the rest at the link)

  2. Jim is correct. You might be referring to the MV Princess of the Stars owned by SLI. I was lucky to have ridden that ship several times last year as well as a dozen more ships of SLI (Paradise, Universe, Filipina, World, Seas and even the ill faithed Orient). The stars is a magnificent ship, too bad the typhoon caused it to capsize.

  3. I presume you mean the Princess of the Stars, owned by the Sulpicio Lines.

It was a magnificent ship and possibly the largest passenger ship in the Philippines. I was looking forward to travelling on it. I wonder if i still will be able to after the refloat mentioned by the previous poster.

Anyway, the Sulpicio Lines website has been keeping the public informed of current events. You can read all the announcements at their website including claim procedures, names of passengers etc.
