I am looking for a set top box to convert analogue tv to digital/ not free view?

No other systems exist as far as I'm aware for converting the signal from your aerial to a digital picture as freeview does.

Only other option are-

1.  Sky - needs a dish

2.  Freesat - needs a dish but is a free way of getting HDTV

3.  Virgin - you need to be in a cabled area.

BT - may offer an alternative - check their website.

Digital is high quality by being transmitted digitally, whats the point of converting a signal thats been tranmitted analog, and therefore has lost some quality, into digital.

Freeview is the generic term for terrestial digital TV in the UK, so if you want digital without subscription, you get freeview or nothing.

You could go digital satelite, but you still get the same channels.
