I am looking for a specific short story title/author from the romantic era?

I read a short story a while ago and I am trying to find it again. It was in the romantic era, so the author might be someone like poe or hawthorne.

The story contains a bunch of rooms or halls that each have a color- one red, one green, one blue, etc. There are great descriptions of the furnishings and curtains within the rooms. If I am remembering right, I think there is a party being thrown at the mansion in these rooms, and the people get sick?

Sorry this isn't very specific, I can't remember it! Thanks!

  1. The story is "Masque of the Red Death, by Edgar Allan Poe. You can take that to the bank--I taught the thing for sixteen years. By the way, there used to be excellent recordings of it by Basil Rathbone ad Vincent Price; maybe they were remastered into CD's.  Try Amazon.
