He's 5 yrs. old. I have taken him to the hospital and he was put on a waiting list. It's been I think over a year and still haven't heard anything. I have called back, and all they tell me is someone will call me. He will be going to kindergarten this year. Any help would help. Thanks.

  1. bring it to the attention of his school,   they will help with it...

  2. my daughter recieves speech through her school

she goes to a public elementary school that offers speech classes for all children that need it no matter the age

check with his school they may offer it

  3. Are you in the US? If so, you are entitled to services through the school district and you should have been receiving them by now. Make sure the school knows of your concerns and demand to sign a referral right away.

  4. I had speech therapy when i was little and I had it through school... they even sent me to pre-k early so that i could have it- I could not say my "L" and "R" sounds... you should call the school he is going to attend and talk to them about it...

  5. my daughter recieves speech therapy at school.....when i signed her up for kindergarten i requested her to be tested for the service.....most dont realize alot of schools in the us do have a speech therapist within thier special education program. Also if you have an early childhoof intervention program for your state you can call and find out who they refure thier 3 years old to when they get out of thier program

  6. The are a lot of ways to find a speech therapist in your area.  You can check with your insurance company to see if there are any in your plan, or you can ask your regular pediatrician for a referral to a therapist they recommend.  Please don't wait any longer, speech therapy can help a child tremendously (it has helped my son beyond all expectations) and the sooner you can get him help the faster he will progress.

  7. have you called the school where he is going to be attending? my friend got free speech classes right at the school its a class something like 25 mins long and her son has a blast!! i would really check into it ask the principal or counsler they should be able to help you free of charge good luck

  8. Try going to your local public health nurse or call your local school district. My son (who will be 4 next month) has been going to speech therapy through the public school system in our state since he was 2 1/2.  He is involved in the Early Childhood Education Center in our city.  Do it soon as they should be starting to fill classes for the fall!

    Good Luck!
