The ones with the brightly colored almost cake-like frosting, although the frosting is typically somewhat hardened unlike cake frosting.

  1. I use the same buttercream icing I use on my cakes. It dries with a crust.

    I use:

    1 c. Crisco

    2 lbs. powdered sugar

1/2 c. more or less of water

1 t. vanilla or whatever flavoring you like.

Cream together flavoring & Crisco & then alternately add powdered sugar & water until it is as thick or thin as you like. Beat until smooth, about 10 minutes. Ice the cookies & let them dry before stacking them.

  2. Basically powdered sugar, butter, and milk.  I like it also!
