I have been teaching for 4 yrs now, I am moving so I need to find a new teaching job. I haven't been in this game for 4 yrs now. I have applied to different schools just in their HR dept or Superintendent's office like it said. Should I be doing anything else or just sit and wait to see if they call me?

  1. Honey I would advise you to go to the different schools in your area and talk with the principals. Tell them you have put in your application, and would appreciate it if they would consider you.

  2. If school isn't already out, you could try and contact the dept. chair and/or same subject-area/grade-level teacher.  Also, it can't hurt to try and contact the principal in the building where you're applying.  Sometimes a little email or phone call can help.

In the meantime, get your portfolio together.

  3. Contact the principals of the schools directly.  Most schools can hire a person without the person having ever applied in human resources first.  The aggressive applicants will be calling and visiting the schools...so should you.
