I am looking for a volunteer aid or home care aid in Edmonton, Alberta.?

I need someone to stay with my husband's father for the day and possibly overnight while my husband and I go out of town for business for the day. Are there any places I can go for help in Edmonton, Alberta? (preferably Italian or Spanish speaking)

When we needed to do this in our family we talked to the senior center in our town.  They were so nice and they rec. someone who was amazing.  I don't know if you have this in Canada but I'd suggest if you have one to speak to them (They are incredibly amazing with emotional health tips for caregivers as well.).

Best of luck to you with this.  It is an incredibly emotional and difficult time.  It's a sort of situation where your husband may feel that no matter what he does it isn't the right thing.  It's a tough time.  Hang in.

Contact the Canadian Red Cross Community Services division they may be able to help with a PSW assignment, also your Community Health Services Office may be able to help.  You may need areferral from your Dr. for it to be covered.  It is called a respite need.  Best of Luck in the search.

I don't know if it is popular in your area but there is a website named ASKWISH where you can ask for things and offer things.  I know they have a category for health care.  I live in the U.S. and know this is becoming popular here, not sure if it has caught on in Canada.  Best of luck to you.
