I bought my kids a tetherball set to occupy them some over the summer. The problem is, I do not have a place to mount the pole that it will not interfere with othe activities. I am looking for something I can make that will allow me to move it around as needed. There is one being sold on ebay, but I can't spend the money on it. Does anyone have any ideas?

  1. Go to a 99 cent store and buy a large plastic bowl. Then buy a bag of concrete mix and fill the bowl and let it harden. Turn over the concrete base and you have a nice heavy base for the tether ball set. Don't forget to insert the pole into concrete.

  2. The best and most portable way is to have a  piece of 2" pipe welded into a old tire rim leaving the tire on the rim. Fill the inside of the rim with concrete and let cure. Now you have a portable tether ball setup that will not tip over and easily moved.

  3. Tetherball played right puts a lot of force on the pole - no weighted thing will stand up to it.  Maybe if you found a pipe that the tetherball pipe fit snugly into you could bury the bigger pipe flush with the ground and slip the tetherball pipe in when you wanted to play.  It's really not a portable game.
