  1. If you don't want your child to know they were adopted try to keep it it the same country or race!

    I was adopted from Russia

try looking it up on Google and see what you find!

  2. Possum is correct in that you must petition the court.  (See Nevada Revised Statute 127, Section 140 at http://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-127.h... )

You may have some luck in obtaining your original birth record in this manner, because Nevada does not have a "good cause" clause in it's criteria to allow adopted citizens their own records.  Some states that require court petitions, such as California and New York, have a "good cause" clause, meaning that the adopted person much show "good cause" before the court will grant a petition to open the records.  Unfortunately, "good cause" is completely undefined and up to the discretion of each judge.

Since Nevada does not require good cause, those adopted in Nevada have had somewhat better success at having court petitions granted than those living in states that do require it.

You will want to petition the court in the county in which your adoption finalized.

You can go here in order to learn more about petitioning in Nevada:

  3. Nevada is a sealed record state - so you may never be able to get your adoption records.

    Here is the info -

    Nevada searching groups:

Quad States Lost Angels in Adoption( seems to have died down, but is still open to the public, could possibly have some useful messages and/or links in its files and message board history.
