  1. Be careful.  I don't know what you are trying to study, but every school will tell you that they are accredited; what matters is who has accredited them, and in many disciplines, it is the discipline-specific accreditation that matters, and the only online programs which have this in most cases are those which are online programs done by a traditional university.

  2. I'm not sure what you mean by "affordable" as all thon lineine schools I found were pretty expensive. I am finishing up with the University of Phoenix and have liked the on line school experience for the most part. The instructors were good and I had few technology problems. I basically went with this school because  I was able to get a loan to pay for all of it and had to put out very little of my savings for school. Since I was only able to work part time, and go to school full time, it helped to not have to pay much up front. Of course, now I have a big loan to pay off - but I'll have a better job (hopefully)!!

  3. First, STAY AWAY from well known on-line schools that advertise extensively on the internet (I won't name them but you know which ones they are).  Even if they are accredited, they are often two, three or four times more expensive than comparable traditional programs and are not respected...at all.  I actually used to do quite a bit of hiring in some of my previous jobs and we used to laugh when we saw that someone had gone to one of those on-line schools.

I actually had a friend who got her master's in information technology from an accredited online school after she got her undergrad.  After she finished her grad program, she worked for months for a clothing retail store and then ended up accepting an entry level job in an IT department making what she would have made with only a bachelor's.  She ended up paying through the nose for her degree (she actually paid more for her degree than another friend of ours did for a graduate degree at a top 50 school in the same field) and she told me that she doesn't tell people about this degree in social situations because people give her funny looks when she tells them she got an online degree.  Oh and my friend who went the traditional route made about 30k more than my friend who went the online route right after graduating and paid half the amount of tuition.

I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, good luck.

  4. Don't go to school online.  Get the real experience.  I'm the only one who will tell you this, but everyone will think it: online is the easy way out, it is not equivalent to attending class, and everyone in academics (and many people in society) make fun of online schools.  Just don't do it.
