I am looking for an affordable restuaurant/private banquet room to throw a party?

I would like to throw my mom a surprise 75th birthday party in a private, intimate setting for abour 40 people. I want it to be classy yet afffordable as I am on a $1400 budget. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

For that amount of money you may be able to get a private room at a large restaurant and like the above answer, halls are a great way to go,you can decorate anyway you'd like,have it catered even

(think local deli's that do hot food as well),for only 40 people $1,400 is good.

Instead of a restuarant , just rent a nice hall and ask relatives and friends to participate in bringing food and dessert this way you hired a good professional band for entertainment  and very expensive birthday cake . Check out local churches or other  VHW halls that provide you with space that you can personally decorate .
