When serving the public one cannot use china cups and dishes if they are not washed by an electric or gaz dishwasher., so says the gov't inspectors. paper cups are not a solution as they can burn the customer's fingers. Anyone know what we can use?

  1. that's bonkers. well, if you must use throw away cups, you could get the corrugated card ones like you get in (hawk, spit) commercial coffee houses, they hold boiling water comfortably. probably more expensive, sods law.

  2. Fortunately, you have many options, from recycled to compostable cups. Green Home's restaurant section (www.greenhome.com/products/restaurant_s... should give you some leads.

Another option, one that will draw in the green crowd, would be to offer a small discount if people bring in their own favorite cup for filling. You'd have to run that one past your local health department, but greenies love that sort of thing and you'll save even more resources.

  3. There is a plastic made of corn...

These guys use them, but you'll apparently have to reach out through there contact page, the sustain link is broken.
