No one will issue a policy for that short a term in Ontario (ICBC will in B.C., but not for a vehicle registered in Onatrio). The best you can do is to find an insurer who will issue a policy for three month term (the shortest term that I know of that any insurer will issue for) and cancel the policy after a week. You will have to pay the entire three month term up front, however you will receive a refund for the portion you don't use. I can guarantee, however, it will be cancelled on a short rate basis which means they will keep a larger percentage than they would if it was on a pro rata basis. You can ask that they cancel on a pro rata basis, although they may not be willing to do so.

This is assuming of course this is for a vehicle registered in your name.

If you have automobile insurance in the U.S., you do not need to buy additional insurance to drive in Canada for a week.  U.S. automobile insurance policies cover you in Canada, but not Mexico.  (You do need to buy special insurance to drive in Mexico.)  If this is a car that you will be renting in Canada, you should check with your insurance company and credit card company on whether they cover you for damage to the rental car or you need to pay the rental car company for what is called "collision damage waiver" in the U.S. (not sure of the term in Canada).
