SYLVESTER — Lula Irene g*y Dorminey, 90, of Albany, died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at Palmyra Medical Centers.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shingler Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Wallace Willis and the Rev. Curtis Mixon officiating.

Born in Worth County, GA, Mrs. Dorminey is the daughter of the late Charles Abram g*y and Clara Hall g*y. She was formerly employed with Sylvester Textile for a number of years. She has lived in Albany since June 2003 having lived in Worth County all of her life. She was an avid quilter and craft maker who was a proud member of the Poulan Homemaker's Club. She was a former reporter for the Sylvester Local News and the Sylvester Radio Station for the Shingler and Terrell area. She was a member of Shingler Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many, many years. She was the widow of Joe Floyd Dorminey, who died October 10, 1972.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald L. and Janie Dorminey Sr. of Albany, and Charles E. and Betty Dorminey of Denver City, TX; three grandchildren, Ronnie Dorminey, Cindy Burkhalter and Sherry Smith; and nine great-grandchildren, Anna and Zack Dorminey, Taylor, Ashley, Kelcie and Keaton Burkhalter, Cleve and Shain Bearden and Riley Smith.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shingler Baptist Church, c/o Sue O'Boyle, 203 Deer Valley Drive, Albany, GA 31705.
