Question:

I am looking for employment on a cruise ship?

I'm only sixteen years old, but I'm really into this. I'd be pretty much up for anything. Maybe not housekeeping though. Or anything having to do with food. Any ideas or information? Websites to help me out?

  1. I am not sure what the minimum  age is for you to work on a cruise ship but the cruise lines can tell you that.  You need to contact the cruise lines directly to inquire about positions you may qualify for and the types of positions they have available. Each cruise line web site has a link to employment, human resources or some such link to lead you to employment opportunities.

Another thing to do is to contact the concession that run the shops on the ships like the souvenir, gift and clothing shops. Below are links for you.

  2. For most positions you need to be 21.  There are a few positions that hire at 18.  Those would fall mostly in the spa department and the entertainers (singers and dancers)

  3. Cruise ships are awesome.

My friend Donavon plays piano, and he travelled with Carnival for like 6 months for free, by just playing the piano at night.

There are many ways to get onto one, if you're willing to take litttle to no pay, than they pay for your room and board and food and everything else, but you have to work for them.

You can't work at the bar, because I believe you'd have to be 21, but you CAN work with the kids in the youth programs, work in the kitchen maybe, be a server/waitress, etc.

I would LOVE to do that too! But I'm only 14, so I'd have to wait 2 years, but maybe then I could come with you lol!

  4. try cruise line companys such as P&O, princess or norweigian, they're often looking for general attendant staff or entertainment acts, although I expect most in demand is hosuekeeping or waitressing, just remeber you don't have to do the WHOLE ship, there are plenty of staff!!!good luck!!
