  1. you can have them help you cut out coupons, it helps you (if you use them) and teaches them patience and helps with thier fine motor skills. you can also try pouring drinks, and of corse supervise.

  2. good craft ideas for 3 year olds are the following:

    1.finger painting

2.foam building blocks, with this they can build any thin , and it is safe

    3.playing with clay

    and

    4.coloring with simple color pencils.

    good luck!

  3. Well popsicle sticks are always good...have him/her make shapes with them....then tell him what the shape is...its both fun and educational

  4. Three years are very curious and have lots of questions. So a project like drawing their favorite things to do--ie playing at beach, etc. Flash cards to build their knowledge base.  Games that promote imagination. Ask them to tell you a story and you can do the drawing that describes their story. You can make a book written and illustrated by them. They also like to help. So give them a duster and let them help clean with you. They will feel a accomplishment.  Take them for walks and to park.

  5. This one costs nothing.  You get all your shoes out and play shoemaker.  Let them pretend to hammer and shine them up with paper towels.

  6. Finger paints!!!!  Great for creation and imagination!  My three year old loves them and they're washable and cheap.

  7. water and playdough....

  8. go to the hardware store and get a bag of sandblasting sand---white in color-----then get either glad containers or ziplock bags and food coloring.  you can die the sand with food coloring---use rubber gloves-----let them dry out after dyeing for several days.  kids can play with colored sand or use glue and make pictures----i did this with kindergarden so im sure pre school would be fine too.

  9. Depends if you want something not messy or not,  You can have them paint a fish.  Go to the store buy a fish and have them paint it after wards put a piece of paper on it and pick it up  and it will leave a print.  I did it with my 3 and 4 year old class they loved it.  Also put 2 different colors into a Ziploc bag say blue and yellow and have them mix it up and they can see how the make a new color.  Also have them make play dough but not with peanut butter most childcare settings no longer allow peanut products due to allergies.  another thing my class LOVED was to listen to the Cd's that have them act like different animals or vehicles.  Nature walks are also fun, take a bug catcher with you so that you can take it back to the classroom and they can look at it more.  Another one of their favorites was to play beauty parlor.  We would be outside some of them would be "painting my nails" (with a stick) some would be styling my hair.  We had no real props but for some reason they enjoyed it and they were the ones that came up with the game.   Good luck with them that age can be so fun.  Oh and have them decorate paper grocery bags and then do a parade!

  10. There are some good web sites out there with lots of ideas.  2 of my favorites are:

    perpetualpreschool.com

    preschoolexpress.com

My 2's and 3's love art-- painting with brushes, their fingers, household items; printing with stamps, toys, cookie cutters, etc; making collages with paper, sequins, pictures from magazines, cotton balls, etc.; coloring with crayons or markers.

Music:  Play a variety of music from "kid's songs" to classical, to pop.  I play music in the background as they play throughout the day.  Some will come over to dance with the music from time to time.  SING with them, as a group or individually.  Songs and fingerplays benifiet brain development.

I read at least 2 books per day.

Give them plenty of time to run, jump and play outside when the weather permits.  This is very important to growing bodies and is overlooked at times.

If you are developing your own lesson plans, get to know the children well enough to know their interests.  Do they enjoy building in the block center or play in the housekeeping area?  Is there talk about dinosaurs, cars, or firemen as they play?  Use these intsersts of theirs to find activities that they will enjoy.

  11. ANGEL

1.first take a paper plate and cut the bumpy edges off all the way around.

    2. next shape it into a round cone and staple it .

    3. after that take some cotton balls and color the way you want the Angels hair to be.

    4. Then glue the hair at top of the cone.

    5. After draw the face on with markers.

    6. Take another paper plate and draw the two wings on it.

    7. Next cut them out. Bend the wings at the end and glue them on the back of the cone.

    8. FINISHED!!!!

  12. My almost 3 year old loves to color/draw/paint!  He also LOVES playdoh!  Another fun thing we do together is I get out flash cards that have the ABC's on them and I go through the whole deck a few times....I say the letter and he repeats. This will help him/her letters and letter sounds. I also have a number deck.

  13. Seach the web. Go on google and type in crafts for kids. Here are some websites. That's all i got.

  14. Make PeanutButter Pladough. YOu can play with it and then you can eat it.

  15. Try the stores in your area that sell educational books and materials for kids.

  16. Look into the Montessori method for children. Lots of good ideas.

  17. There are a lot of great ideas using "lapbooking" which is like scrapbooking and follows themes like preschools do.  Some people even use this type of arts and crafts to homeschool their kids.

  18. check out family fun magazine for some cute, fun crafts, games, etc for kids, and toddlers too! the first link should take you straight to the toddler page, enjoy!  (these are not online kid games, they are parent/child activities, and kid activities!)

  19. take them outside and collect stuff and have them glue there collections to poster board or paper and display

Have them feel things that look alike but feel different and then discuss it like flower and sugar flower is soft and sugar is rougher

or give them a bucket of different shapes of wood, plastic or any thing that is small enough to fit in there hand and can be stacked and pieces of cloth and let them be creative
