I am trying to find out how it all works, as this is something that I am considering but know very little about. The preschool that I taught for has closed and I would love to continue teaching. I would like to have a schedule that allows me to visit a couple different homes for maybe an hour or two a day, 4 or 5 days a week. How would I charge, per child, per visit, per hour? I think that it would be better to be charging the child care provider rather than the individual parents, since I would not have regular contact with them. I understand that I have to take into consideration the cost of supplies and travel. I already have a curriculum.

  1. You may be asking about the Early Intervention or Preschool Special Ed. Itinerant Services. Special Ed teachers go into homes and Day Care programs to provide Special Ed services in a familiar environment. Localities differ in how they are chosen and assigned. Check with your local school district for information. Keep in mind you do need Special Ed certification.
