  1. C6H6 + Cl2  ----(FeCl3)--------> C6H5Cl + HCl

    FeCl3 it is used as catalizator, for making the electrophile particle Cl^+

    FeCl3 + Cl2 -----------> FeCl4^- + Cl^+

    C6H6 + Cl^+ -----------> C6H5Cl + H^+

    FeCl4^- + H^+ -----------> FeCl3 + HCl

    after forming C6H5Cl  the reaction for obtaining C6C4Cl2 goes easier also with FeCl3 under same mechanizm except that are possible two kind of products orto and para ( 1,2 and 1,4 dichloro benzene) because Cl is a group thaat direct substitution in orto-para position.

    remark: AlCl3 also could be used as a catalizartor instead FeCl3
