I am looking for information about a murder?

Question

I want to find info about a murder that was in my family. I was very young so i dont rememeber what happened. I want to find like old newspapers or something that will tell me. Whenever i ask about it my family changes the subject as fast as they can. All I know it that it happened in 1996 in kentucky and that the news articles will have something about "brother kills brother" or something along those lines. Please give me a website that i can look for articles at or something

Unfortunately, many newspapers haven't digitized their issues from the 1990s. Even if they have, you have to pay to search.

I'd strongly suggest you look for some hints of what area in Kentucky you should be looking at. If it's only 12 years back, someone probably has something that shows a town the family was living in, etc.

Then, I'd look online for the nearest newspaper covering that town.

From there, you can call that newspaper and ask to speak to a news reporter that's been there since 1995 or so.

That person may remember a specific incident and be able to give you a name or a date that would let you narrow it down.

From there, you may have enough information to find out more. You can ask the reporter if the newspaper archives its articles and if there is anyone that is able to search the archives for such information. You may have to pay for that service. Or, he may tell you you'd have to check the microfilm at the local library, but at least you'd have a better date to start from.

You need the  name of  town, approximate  dates,  then  contact  library research for  help. They can  pull up newspaper  articles or insruct you how  too.   Also  police  records  dept.  If  know  where  buried can get  copy of  funeral  records. Things  like this is called  a  paper  trail that  leads one to other to put  story togeather.  BUT it  sounds like a  sad  story.  *mamatx
