  1. As others have said, there may not be a birth certificate. If the family was religious, try to locate the church they attened for Baptism and Communion records. Check the local school district for the records they have available. People in her generation were allowed to use school records to prove their age to the Social Security Administration.

  2. Good luck alot of states may not have mandatory birth certificates back that far, I know in NC my grandparents did not have one for 1907 . Go to courthouse in the town their were born and you may have to start with children they may have had.

(NOTES--Jessie: Jessie Tidwell was an Assembly of God preacher and preached in congregations in and around Spiro, Oklahoma.

Jessie did not believe in going to storm cellars when the tornadoes came ripping through Oklahoma. Vera recalls the day a really bad storm was coming, and the oldest son of George and Jessie Tidwell, Leonard, begged his mother to go to the storm cellar. George was not home at the time. Of course, she refused, saying that going to the storm cellar was "runnin from the Lord." After it was over, Leonard was dead, and the rest of the family that was at home that fatal day were injured. After that, Jessie would take her children to the storm cellar!

Jessie Tidwell did not believe in going to doctors either. That was not trusting in the Lord. She sat and prayed over her sick child, Greeley, as he died with a fever, refusing to get a doctor for him.

From the Fentress Mortuary Report of Death states she died from cardiac arrest.)

  4. Try your local library and ask if they can assist you. They keep old records and newspaper clippings, and articles. Another place to ask is your town hall where you get a copy of your birth certificate you need to find the right desk. Someone will help you if you just ask. They may ask for your I.D. but if you tell them why you want the information they may or may not give out that information. Things like this are private and confidential so you might run into some issues. good luck though.
