  1. You can post your grandmother's name here and someone may be able to help you.

  2. Irish government records were extensively destroyed in the civil war but there are church records that are very helpful. Do you know what town she was born in or her date of birth? Even if it is in a rural area, you can still find the nearest town and search their church records. My father was from Kerry and we managed to trace the original record of his christening in the local church in Cahirciveen.

Mind you, I went to the local cemetery to visit my uncle's grave as I am named after him and their were more gravestones there with my name on than you could shake a shillelagh at! (No, not Nubar)

If you can post a bit more information, date of birth, area, etc. I may be able to advise you where to look. Good luck!

  3. We have never met but I can assure you I know where you originally come from, answere, YOUR MOTHER AH AH

  4. If you apply to the General Register Office in Ireland they have records of Birth Marriages and Deaths since 1864.  Their website is

www.groireland.ie where you can download an application form or apply for a birth certificate on line.  The cost is 10 Euros.

  5. Try this website - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlker...

it has a lot of BMD and Census info for Co. Kerry.  You might get lucky.  If you don't find her details on there, then if you give further information on your grandmother here e.g. her name, dob if known, pob etc., you might find that someone on this forum might be able to help further.

    good luck!
