My aunt gave birth to a boy when she was 14 in Ireland. She and the child were taken to a home in Dublin but then my aunt left the boy in the home and hasn't seen him since. This was in the 1950's. i don't want to gave away names but this happened in County Monaghan and the sir name is Mc dermot. If anyone can help me find him please answer

  1. If he was adopted he'll have a different surname. Rather try the find people sites you might have more luck.

  2. well how can we help without names, maybe they are on this and might see the question so put them name up love

  3. Hi!  Have you tried posting a message on the Genesreunited site?  Go onto the site, scroll down to GR Community, then "Trying to find".  You can put in as much information as you want to, or not.  I've had a lot of success in finding relatives on this site.  Good luck!

PS - there's a good book "The light in the window" by June Goulding - it's all about 1950s Ireland and unmarried mothers.  The writer worked in one of these homes and many parents and children have been reunited through it.
