  1. I would suggest Penn Foster. I'm currently in the program but I have a friend who finished and has been in college for 3 years. She didn't skip a beat by an online degree like most people would think. You can do it from anywhere in the world. It can be done all online, they ship things but you dont have to wait to receive them to start working. Also it is accredited by the middle states commission for education.

It cost's about $1,200 which is cheaper than most, you can make monthly payments if you have to. I do. haha The only thing is you don't receive your diploma until you've paid in full, which is understandable. They dont push religion and you can take a lot of college prep courses with them if you're planning on going. You can usually transfer credits you've already finished in high school to count toward your online credits. You need 21.5 to pass 17 are core and 5 are electives you choose from about 40 options randing from dress making, to auto mechanics, to geometry. They send you an elective pack to choose when you're half way through but you can be looking at them online or from your student hand book in the mean time.

You go to the site and sign up, get your credits transfered and everything then start completing tests in the order they tell you to on your special student account. they provide you with online. Theres 4-8 tests to finish each class. You can usually do 4 a day if you're really determined and you don't have anything else to do. The only thing is if you haven't paid in full you have to wait until your next course is marked as shipped to take the tests for that class. about 99% of the time you can be studying ahead of time because they give you the tests right away for most of the subjects. I'd say if you worked hard you could be finished in a month. You do learn though its no piece of cake.

Thats it. It's that simple. I hope this made sense. haha Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

  2. I am a homeschool parent in SC.

To find out the laws regarding homeschooling, visit http://www.HSLDA.org and click on "In Your State".  A correspondance course alone does not meet the requirements of homeschooling here.

SC has a new virtual school.  While it is not truly homeschooling, a lot of people consider it to be and I am not sure if that is what you are asking about.  You are still a public school student, but you complete your lessons online via Connections Academy.  Visit that website or the website for the SC Department of Education to learn more.  I can tell you that this program is free.

For true homeschooling, there is no one best program.  It will vary from family to family, and from child to child, depending on their learning styles and other factors.  Our family personally uses the A Beka Book curriculum, with some eclectic alterations to suit our needs.  A Beka has a DVD option as well-the lessons are given by teachers, via DVD, and the student can contact the school with any questions, etc.

I would suggest that ou join a local homeschool support group before choosing a program or curriculum.  The other homeschoolers would probably be more than happy to allow you to view their stuff so that you can determine what would be best for you.  Contact me via my profile-I will see if I can get you connected with one.  You can also visit http://groups.yahoo.com and type in "MyCity homeschool" and one will more than likely pop up that is located near you.

I hope this helps, and wish you the best

  3. For Free Public Homeschooling .....try K12.

For Private Homeschooling.... I think Sonlight, Excellence in Writing and Aleks Math are some of the top programs available to homeschoolers.

    Best of Luck!
