  1. I can understand that it's difficult to learn the German language because most German will help you in talking English ;)

force your girlfriend to talk German after some weeks you should be able to communicate in German.

You could stick to English when working for the US military, the NATO or EUCOM, but I think that there are better alternatives in for you:

    Try to think of working in the IT-Branch;

companies like IBM, HP, SAP employ lots of foreigners sometimes English is the lingua franca there so it will be easy to join and get around with some German and help of your foreign co-workers.

give it a try! good luck!

  2. you could [gasp] learn german.

  3. I second the suggestion that you learn the language of the country you're living in. If you have a German girlfriend, it cannot be that hard.

  4. You can look jobs at the hotels, travel offices, Airlines.

    Good Luck.

  5. You might want to try looking for a job at a U.S. Military base. I forget the specific site, but I posted one below. I worked at Ansbach for a couple of years. The pay is great and the country is enjoyable. You might also try a company like "Lear Siegler" they contract out to the military for tech jobs. Good luck

  6. I can tell by your question that your have some work qualifications in the tourist industrie. But if you want to succeed in Germany you have got to roll up your socks and learn the language.

Ask your girl friend for help. She should not speak to you in English all the time but in German. Take a low paid job ( with short hours ) to tie your over financialy. Use your spare time to improve your German. Your Engish language helps you only to find a well paid job if you also are proficient in German.

Go out alone meet people that speak German, watch German TV, listen to German Radio - BUT ABOVE ALL SPEAK THE LANGUAGE. Don't be afraid to make mistakes - you learn from your mistakes.

Germans love anyone who speaks with an English accent. Sorry Scottish Accent. Use this to increase your circle of friends. Join a club - whatver interests you. Go alone and force yourself to speak German.

That is the only way forward my friend. I speak out of experience : Been there, done it & made it.

    Good luck

Give it time and graduately you will find employment and a long term prospect in Germay.

  7. Dont you ever buy newspapers or magazines?

Check the newspaper "B.Z" and the magazine "Zitty".

Oh yea , where  in germany do you live? B.Z and Zitty are actually for Berlin.

Its fücking easy to find a job in germany if you are a english native speaker.

    Wake up.
