roof rack. It does not have crossbars. My quesion is this...will I need to buy crossbars in order to install a kayak rack? I have looked online at many of the kayak racks and it looks to me like I will need to but my boss claims that the crossbars will be included with the kayak rack when I buy it. That doesn't look like the case to me but I hope I'm wrong. Help please???

  1. You need crossbars to attach saddles to.

    Here's the list from yakima:

2007 KIA Sportage 4dr w/ Factory Rack that has no factory cross bars:

LowRider  Part # 8000118(clamps will attach to your side rails, and hold Yakima cross bars.)   $149.00  USD

    Crossbars:  58" CrossBars…

    Part # 8000409  $60.00

    LandShark Saddles  Part # 8004030 $75.00  USD

4 lock cores. SKS Lock Core Pack Part #8007204  $45.00  USD

At full retail, a Yakima system is $329.00

Punch any of the above part numbers into Ebay or Craigslist... You should be able to get the low riders and a set of cross bars for about $100; and that will likely include a set of lock cores.  The saddles you may end up paying full retail for.

    Good luck!
