  1. Be careful. We got quotes from 4 different contractors and the one we chose was 30% cheaper. That was 4 years ago and everything went great. No shortcuts, just more fairness.

We are now building  a second home and we're using the same guy.

    Our 1600 sq.ft. Victorian was105,000,but he didn't sub anything out,he included a 325 ft.driveway,the sep tank,and landscaping.Awesome deal!

Price per square foot can vary drastically based on just how fancy you want things.

  2. Well it is either a bungalow or a house.  SO it depends on which one you are actually building.

  3. normal stick(2x4) houses run about $80/square foot.  So a 2000 sq ft house would cost $160,0000 to build.

  4. I saw a really interesting programme on tv this morning about a girl in her 20's trying to escape mortgage woes by building a large shed (which looked more like a log cabin than a shed) in her parents back garden. It was really spacious inside and is saving her a lot of money in the long run. See the re-run of the programme I saw at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7530...

    It really is worth watching!

  5. It firstly depents on where you live and council restrictions

is it built by direct labour under your supervision, and payment, or by rep builder sometimes its best not to go with someone you know. and get what you expect, from your plans ,to the finished product, but a 2500sq ft could cost in todays terms 85k  - 90k depending what you want and the finishes your want or need or  agood bench mark is £60 per sq ft finished and woulkd in clude solic fee and all other fees

hope this a help i live in N>Ireland
