I am interested in buying a 1995 Eagle Talon from someone, and it has a transmission problem. I am trying to figure out what it is and just how bad it might be. As far as I know it is the original trans in the car, and the seller tells me that he was told by a mechanic that it is a computer chip problem with the trans.

Now I am trying to figure out if this is an extremely expensive problem to fix, or if someone might be able to nail it down for me as to what it could be.

He tells me it's the computer chip for or in the trans, and if replace everything will work fine.

Someone who knows anything about Eagle Talons or this problem please help. Thanks.

  1. TRANSMISSIONS ON THOSE ARE ****.

I have a 95 Talon and I've gone through 2 transmissions, I'd sell it but for some weird reason I like it and commute in it. But pretty much, get a new transmission, I tried to rebuild mine, and that didn't go to well. So buy a new one.

  2. Depends on whether it is really the TCU or not. If it is and all you need to do is replace it, this is usually under the dash and plugs in.

The other problem with those transmissions were the OD going out. An easy fix for an average mechanic. An end clutch kit fixed that.

Here are links for pulling codes and AT in the DSM world.

http://plymouthlaser.com/ look fot the AT drop down menu.

I personally would be wary of buying any car with a bad AT. BUT if the price is right and it is the car you want.
