I am away from Kolkata almost 28 years - but I want to retire and settle down in my beloved city of old days Calcutta, i.e. Kolkata. I like something near Koikhali area on VIP road. If you are from Kolkata, you know what I am talking about. I like to buy a 3 or 4 Bed rooms, living room, big kitchen, 2 balconies and 2 bath rooms apartment. May be 1500-1800 sq.ft area. Do you know how much I can expect to pay? Because I heard that middle man and real estate people are jacking up prices. I just want to know from real people. I just want to be careful that people dont rip me off. So, your advice is what I am looking for. Thank you.

  1. The price would varry from Rs. 20 Lakh to 50 Lakh depending on the type of house, Flat or single owner, Old or new, exactly which area etc. Rajarhat should be a better place. You will get new flat for 25 to 30 lakhs.

  2. Sir, please come back to your country and city Kolkata. These days this city is the busy place in Real Estate activities in India. Prices are rising .. till a bit less compared to the metros, as most look this city as the 'desired place'.

Organized, well-equipped Indian and foreign builders are developing lots of "high rise modern" building clusters in the city. These are really worth with lots of facilities.

Real estate portals and websites are plenty, may be available on "yahoo search" also. Register with them, they are safe and genuine. Further, have you heard about the new car "Nano" from Tatas to be manufactured from Singur, Kolkata ?

.....................Additional and related news from Project site :-

Kolkata High Court, INDIA in its judgment dt. 18-01-08 up-holds the land acquisition by the WBengal I.D.C in Singur, WB. The acquired land has been 'leased' to Tata Group for their "Nano" small car project and also for another  complex for manufacture of Auto Parts. 55 farms have enlisted themselves for auto-ancillary jobs in this Park. From the very beginning this small car project in the state of West Bengal, India is facing 'resistance' from the vested interests( big Car makers behind ..?). The launch of this car by Tatas might have to lead other Engineers to redraw their car design and stop  global "Price-war"
