I am wanting it to record movies of my children in various activities and sports. I have reviewed a lot of info and am finding that Vista is not as compatible to a lot of the camcorders. Looking for advice from real people and not just from reading info on websites.

  1. If your computer has a working firewire 400 port, then miniDV tape. If your computer does not have a firewire port, but has an available expansion slot, then add a firewire port... and get a miniDV tape based camcorder.

DV (or HDV) compresses the digital video stream the least resulting in best available video quality.

When the firewire port is working, there is no need for device-specific drivers.

    Canon ZR800, ZR900, ZR930.
