  1. I have a Fuji ,Its about 1 1/2 yrs old) I have taken over 20,000 pics and 2000 videos with it and it still works excellent. I gave around $400.00 for everything Camera 7.1mp Rechargable batteries, memory card, tripod, case, and all USB / TV Cords. I had a Fuji 3 mp along time ago and loved it my 14 yr old daughter is still using it. So take a look at fuji they are priced really good, and a very good camera!!!

  2. First question you need to ask yourself is, "What kind of pictures do I like to take?"

    Nature?

    Action?

    Night shots?

Macro photography? (up close, ie.. plants, bugs etc)

Using that as your guide, look for a camera that has functions you need for the kinds of pictures you take.

Next question is where/how will you be using this camera?   mostly at home? (can be bigger in size), or on the road? (should be more compact)

Do you use your camera for video?  something w/ video limited to the card size would be good if you also use your camera as a dvr.  (like me)   If you do that,  a plug for home use would work, so you don't go thru 100 batteries in an hour, LOL.

A GREAT place for camera review is http://www.dpreview.com  .  it has a review on every single kind of camera known to man, even discontinued ones!  (Mine is about 7 yrs old, and it's on there....I found stuff about my camera i didnt' even know it could do, LOL)

    That site has forums also.
