I want something that will not be outdated in 2 years. Good on electricity and has the biggest bang for the buck! I have been to Best Buy, Circuit City.etc.......they always push me towards products I am not sure about and I think they find humor in knowing I don't know what they are talking about!

  1. Samsung are have solution

  2. The Sony Bravia is the classic LCD TV.  They don't age and have the best craftmenship and specs in the industry.  Try the V, W and X series.  50inch, please.

When you see a bravia, you see quality.  Samsung, Panasonic etc are good but don't have the same brand recognition in the industry

  3. Plasma TVs have wonderful pictures and are best in a room with low light.  But currently they are energy hogs so they probably aren't for you.

LCD are more energy conscious. The smaller the screen the less energy they consume.  Also be sure once you get your new TV home, to adjust the brightness so that it is appropriate for your room and doesn't consume excessive energy.  You can also look for one that is Energy Star approved.  (there are lots of choices and they usually have stickers on them that say this) Also get a power strip and attach your TV and any peripheral devices to it.  Then switch it off when you aren't using them. (otherwise they continue to eat up energy)

There are (as you have discovered) many good names out there Sony Bravia, Sharp Aquos, and so forth.  They are all pretty reliable. To get the clear picture you need you must of course get a good signal. I've had friends find out the hard way...if you don't have the upgraded package through a cable or satellite company you won't get that outstanding picture you see on the showroom floor out of any TV.
