  1. fujifinepix s9600, its classed as a digital camera because it has a 30mm lense with 10x zoom, i think.

its a dslr though, so it offers realy good quality for portraits, landscapes, night photography ect, its also got a dead easy interface to use, so its easy to get used to and youl be taking amazing pictures in no time :)

i have one myself, and out of all my cameras its probably the best so far,and itwas probably the cheapest so far aswell!

i think it was around £240 and most probably cheaper on amazon!

  2. Hi,

I did a lot of research and found Canon PowerShot SD870 is to be the best camera for the money.

This camera is totally awesome! Takes very high quality pictures at a very fast speed. I highly recommend it for its small size, image stabilizer and long life rechargeable battery.

From the first day I received it. I just love it. Great shots up close and far away. Moreover, this is a very handy, tiny and light camera that you can carry in your pocket without feeling it.

The screen is huge and the colors are really good.

Menus and settings are very easy and clear. Some tips appear on the screen when you are using different modes, it is very helpful.

    Great camera!!!

    I bought it at http://www.urlfunz.com/GWx3l

  3. I just got the FujiFilm FinePix f45fd and love it.  It's the fastest point-and-shoot camera I've ever seen...I got a demonstration in the store where the guy let me compare taking a picture in a half-shut closet with the camera I was origianlly looking at and this one he recommended (which was much cheaper) and the FinePix took a wonder night shot...with no flash! Perfect for my concerts where flash is not allowed plus great for big group photos.  As I said before, very little lag and very sharp pictures. Theres a ton of features such as face-detection and playing around with the exposure time and I love it!

Remember to make sure you get a demonstration in the store before buying!

  4. I would suggest looking for a used professional SLR Digital Camera. The SLR cameras are so fun to shoot with...you can get different lenses for them...I suggest trying a cheap generic fisheye...It is fun :-)

You can buy an expensive professional SLR Digital Camera that sold for thousands a few years ago for a few hundred bucks today. They still have the same great quality they did when they were thousands of dollars...

My recommendation is a Canon...maybe a d30 or even a d10 is a great camera...also really affordable now...but the choices in accessories is great! Battery grip, flash, filters and lenses...so fun to play with....

It is a great way to get a great professional digital camera that takes amazing shots...they are better than the consumer digital cameras. They are also alot more fun to use with different lens choices.....

I purchased 2 cameras from http://photographersadvantage.com and have been very pleased with my new found hobby!

Good luck and happy shooting :-)

  5. FinepixS5500 is a fine camera. I have one and am very happy with it.

  6. Canon PowerShot SD870 is to be the best camera for the money.

If you choose a camera that uses AA rechargeable NiMH batteries, the information at the link below will help you make your camera run better.

  7. You have only listed the price you are willing to pay up to, but you do not say whether it is a compact or DSLR-type. In this respect (as a personal example) I bought a Fuji Finepix A303 and a Kodak P850. Both are good cameras in my opinion. However, there is a vast range out there, and you thus have to set yourself some parameters to be able to make a reasobale choice. I would suggest you consult http://www.dpreview.com/ for information and comparisons purposes. As said, you first of all need to know what constitutes a reasonable camera and for what you want it. For example, and this is my personal view:

If you are just going to take holiday pictures without the need to set up the camera at its best, then 5-7 megapixels is fine. I would advocate an SD card of perhaps 256 or even 512 Mb. with the latter, a few hundred pictures can be taken at 7Mp...additionally, I would also opt for a Li-on battery which is rechargeable, and would carry two when on holiday, one fully charged as a spare to the one in the camera. Auto setting works very well, and includes flash. Zoom can be anything fro 0-10 (optical) - digital zoom only crops the image.

If you are going beyond the "holiday mode", then you want a camera that has manual settings and you can change exposure and speed etc. The optical zoom is x12 or over. This type of camera is £300 or just under and makes you work for a good picture (except auto!), and lines you up nicely for progression to a DSLR...( also have a Canon EOS 400D DSLR)

Finally, the models mentioned in other answers are all fine models, so it is best to jot them down and start comparing. If you are still unsure, list down what you still require to know and I am certain someone will give you the right answer.

With your change, look on ebay for  ND 4 and 8 filters, UV filter, Circular Polarising filter, and a 2gb sd card.. You still might have enough to get some rechargeable batteries and charger from here.

  9. I would recomend the Canon PowerShot A590 IS it is a fantastic camera 8.0 megapixels, very good results for about £150, comes with an excellent program for  your PC...

  10. The link should help I hope! Think about what you need to get from your camera and the sorts of photos you want to take. Its no good getting one with all the bells and whistles unless you want to learn about them. Read reviews of any that you think are suitable. I personally have a finepix s9600 and F50. Both I love for different reasons!
