Can I substitute for a built in electric oven and a gas hob to go on top of the oven. I could just get a plinth to place under the oven to give it some height. Is this practical or how do built in ovens work? Must they be "built in"?

  1. Built in ovens will work anywhere, even on the floor (wont look very tidy though). The problem is that the hob needs to be in a work top as it is going to have a gas pipe connected and you dont need a fractured gas pipe. You dont say what country/area you are in.

  2. You mean prohibitive. Have a look around the big DIY stores as they have different displays to help you decide. There is usually a nice man who will also explain how it can be achieved.

  3. yes built in ovens fit into a caucus, free standing ones are great , have you tried e.bay this might get you a affordable one
