I am looking to buy a snowboard but i dont know what size to get i?

I am a large guy i weigh about 290 and I really want to get in to snowboarding. I already know how to skateboard and some people say that snowboarding is just like skateboarding but you r on snow so can some please tell me what type of board i need to get

i am 6ft 3 and about 290lbs

  1. You should purchase an all around board, the way you size it is to stand the board up from tip to tip and if the top comes inbetween your chin and your nose, thats the right size. Also look for a wide board based on your height  and they are also much easier to learn on.


  2. You are a big tall guy so you need to get a wide board to support your weight, and at least a 169. Check out the size guide link below.

    Skateboarding might help you some, but it is quite a bit different than snowboarding. The edge on a snowboard is not forgiving. Try to turn too much and you're going to fall. I recommend you take at least one lesson to get the basics down.

    For brands of snowboards I'd recommend Nitro. They make a nice stiff board which would be good with your weight. And they hold up very well to a lot of abuse. Check out their web site too. They have size/weight charts for all their boards.
