I've sailed with NCL (Norweigan) and it was fine. I just want to get some recommendations or suggestions on which cruise lines you guys like and don't like. Thanks so much.

  1. I have been to Alaska 23 times. Several on Norwegian-great service, food, layout of ship, etc. Once on Holland which was like going first class all the way. Most on Princess cruisetours. Princess in many ways compare to Norwegian in service, food. The biggest plus, for Princess on their cruisetours they put you up in 5star lodges and if you have any concerns during or after your cruise they are willing to try to make things right. As for kids May or Sept. would be your best times & also best prices. A Party cruise not that I have seen. Yes, the ships have bars but, people are more interested in the scenery, wildlife & meeting people from all over the world. No matter what line you choose ENJOY.

  2. Try CruiseCritic.com.  Click on "Boards", then go to the various cruiseline boards, or the "Alaska" board.  Also, click on "Reviews", then "Passenger Reviews".  Lots of great info from experienced cruisers.

For a "classier" and quieter cruise, try Celebrity or Holland America.  Princess is also supposed to be good.

  3. I believe that the best cruise line sailing to Alaska is Silverseas, expensive but superb. I haven't sailed with them yet (one day, they're on my list) but I have read lots of reviews.

The best for service, atmosphere, food and entertainment to date has been Celebrity. I would recommend them to anyone.

I have sailed with NCL and had a great time, but Celebrity is a step up in class. Princess or Celebrity would be good for your age group.

  4. I went to Alaska on a cruise/tour with Princess cruise lines. It was my favorite cruise thus far out of 8 different cruises. We flew to Fairbanks, stayed overnight in a nice hotel that Princess arranged, then the next day they took us to the train. We took the train to Denali park where we spent 2 days. Princess has there own lodges there and it was spectacular. We went on a wilderness tour and to a famous mushers home. Both were really great. On day 4, we boarded another train that took us to the port and then we go on the ship. Now we had 7 days on the ship ending up in Vancouver. I love princess and continue to cruise with them  every year.

  5. I've cruised on Princess to Alaska, did it three years ago and am doing it again in three years time. I'm 38 and my husband is 63 so there's quite a broad age range there!  As this is the only cruise line we've done in Alaska, I can't make comparisons for you but I can recommend it, we've really enjoyed it.  We don't do the partying thing, we just want a nice relaxing time and we get this with Princess (we've also cruised to the Caribbean with them).  The service is very good, cabins are great and you can normally find a quiet area somewhere.

  6. Princess is really good!

Theres alot of fun stuff to do on that cuise line!
