I would suggest you use a ATM card vs Travelers Checks. In order to use Traverlers Checks you pay a fee that is often times much heftier than any ATM fee.

I find that I get the better rate using my ATM card or a credit card. I go over there a few times a year and that is the way I get my cash while there.

Its super painful. Im in italy right now but im from america, and when i withdrew 180 euros it was like 260 american dollars! ouch! But ya, the other people are correct about the excange rate.
