and would like some kind of pointers on what to look for when looking at them. I have minimal experience riding, that is why I am looking for something to practice on and then use for basic commuting. i don't want a crotch rocket and nothing that will fall apart in a matter of months.

  1. If you are spending the money, buy something you are comfortable on, looks nice to you, fits the needs you have, and provides you with some pleasure. Do not go small, just because you are learning, you will dislike the bike in 3 months and want to get a better, bigger one.

You can't go wrong with a Harley, I like the Heritage Softail, but you would have to sit on it and judge for yourself.

  2. new bikes are usually easier to finance b/c people want way too much for their used bikes. make sure it's fuel injected too b/c it's sooooo much nicer then carbs.

  3. honda rebel 250...nice little cruiser that gets 90mpg...if you want something bigger and more expensive the Harley 883 sportster is a good ride that get 60mpg

  4. "i dont want a crotch rocket"

    its called a sportbike

"and nothing that will fall apart in a matter of months"

    well don't get a Harley
