I am fairly versed in the HTML and language necessary to make the page itself, but wanted suggestions on the easiest, cheapest, or best way to integrate payment processing into a website.

I'd say a link to a Ebay or Yahoo Store, or a Paypal link.

For subscriptions, I would use CCbill.

What are you using to build your site? There are many online builders and editors that provide tools for e-commerce, etc. like Freewebs.com. They do all the work for you.
