How can a foreign husband earn his social security card with his wife? I believe my mother has done it before.. My mother married my father in the Phillipines whom was in the U.S. Navy and earned her social security card through schooling, but i was wondering if there was anything else I need for my husband? where do i start.. step by step please.

  1. Start with your local embassy and with INS.  Actually, start with a google search.

  2. Check with the nearest USA immigration Dept. if you live in USA. Many  USA Immigration laws changed  drastically lately- Public outcry against the Immigrants- If you live overseas- Check with the nearest USA Embassy...they will advice you what steps to take.  And do not worry soon or later you will get  what you want. PHILIP INES has great POLITICAL relations with USA...

  3. You start with a good lawyer. They are rather thin on the ground in the immigration field so I will give some personal advice (but not legal advice, that would require a law license). First thing's first, if your husband is in the US, *do not leave the US*. File for an adjustment of status and, eventually, he will get his permanent residency (green card) and social security number. File for a social security number at the same time you file for AoS. If you have good cause, also file for an advance parole. They do come in handy.

My wife was an incoming medical resident interviewing. We found a good lawyer by asking the hospitals she was interviewing with who was their lawyer. Three hospitals in a row named the same lawyer. He was excellent.
