going to Auckland new zeland but all flights connect in USA do I need A Visa of any kind?

No you do not need a visa to transit between flights in the u.S. The U.S. no longer has transit visas.  Instead , you will go through a special customs inspection, then wait in a special international waiting room til time to depart.  you can verify this by using the site below.  Enter your nationality, enter your transit pin, then enter your destination and click for the info.  A page will pop up that explains what i just explanined to you about the international waiting room.

Yes, you do need a tourist visa because you have a connecting flight in the US.

Before it was possible to travel without one as TWOV (traveling without visa) as you were on transit. Not anymore.

Apply at the US consulate asap considering it takes a while to get an appointment and having your visa ready.

Yes you do need a visa to enter the US even if it is just for transit.  

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Department of State have suspended the Transit Without Visa (TWOV) and International-to-International (ITI) programs for people who would otherwise be required to obtain a visa to travel to the U.S.

This action affects passengers who are traveling from one point outside the U.S. with a stop for transit purposes within the U.S.  Under the TWOV and ITI programs, such passengers were not required to have a visa to enter the U.S. for transit purposes.  As a result of this action, however, such passengers will now be required to have a U.S. visa.

NOW YOU DO, NEED A TRANSIT VISA, DID OT BEFORE BUSH, ANY ONE CONNECTOING FROM ANY COUNTRY VIA USA YOU WILL NEED A TRANSIT VISA, WHY DONT YOU TRY ANOTHER ROUTE,IT COSTS ABOUT 100 DOLLARS, YOU GET IT THROUGH THE CONSULATE

YeS! You do need an American Visa, otherwise they won't let you get in the country and you won't be able to transfer to your other flight.
